Watch FIFA LIVE Straight from your PC

Yes, oh yes! You heard it right! Folks, smack me in the butt if this is not the sweetest thing that ever happened in my entire blogging life.

I was so worried that I won't be able to watch the Korea vs. France game this Monday, 19 June at 4 in the morning. Yes! At 4 in the morning! I don't have a tv in my room and I am pretty sure my room mate will not be very happy if I hang out in her room the whole night to keep vigil on the games.

And guess what I found when I was lazily checking out my blogging friends' sites: FREE LIVE ESPN COVERAGE! Yessireeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Bambit provided the link and how to download the stuff and all. Boy oh boy! This is manna from heaven! Bambit, you are an angel!

Ole! Ole! Ole!

And the WINNER is... Dyaraaaannnn!!!

While everyone else is flocking to Gwanghamun (that's the official place to go to see the World Cup 2006 via the free giant tv screen) to watch the Korea game versus Togo (it is an African country, right? I am so lazy to google. Ugghhh! I forgot), here I am, sitting comfortably numb in my room. My head feels like a giant jackhammer is drilling an oil mine in it.

I bid goodnite to the BF after a short sweetie-sweetie talk when suddenly I heard a throat breaking scream from my room mate. She excitedly told me that the game between Tehaminguk and Togo are now tied at 1-1.

Okay. I don't have a choice, do I? I mean, I can't go to sleep with her screaming every fraction of a second so I sat down to watch and before I knew it, I was also cheering my heart out for Lee Chun Soo and Ahn Jung Hwan who made the goals respectively. Oh bloody! Forgive me for not getting their names right, if that is wrong. The official tabulation of the game should be out in Korea Herald tomorrow, so if you want to know the details, I suggest you subscribe to your local papers. Heh! Okay, here's what I got from the net. Hmp!

Anyway, the nerve wrecking game ended with Korean winning 2 to 1. Great! Tomorrow I am going to have a grand time sitting down while my students are busy writing an essay about their pride for the Korean team. Genius!

I felt also extremely proud of my host country. Come on. Who wouldn't? Question is, is the Korean government going to give me a Korean citizenship if I forced the officials of the World Cup 2006 to fix the games of Korea, so that they will be announced champions at the end of the series? Not that I have no idea how to do it, but if there's a will, there's a way.

Now that's a thought.  I wonder if I start writing the petition now.

I Never Liked Bowling...

I can play soccer. I can play table and lawn tennis. I can play badminton. I can also play pool but bowling? No way!

When I was a freshman in college, my sorority sisters and I decided to play bowling. We were already drunk then. I can't remember whose idea it was to play bowling while we were fully intoxicated with draft beer. All I can remember now is that I refused to rent a pair of bowling shoes and stubbornly played with my high heels on. The next thing I remembered, I was sliding down the bowling lane heading to the ten-pin pit. I got some cut under my chain and some bruises on my knees and hands. And that was the first and last time I ever played bowling.

Years after that, friends, relatives, or officemates would drag me to bowling centers but I would simply content myself by cheering. I never dared touch another bowling ball. "Nevah!" I told everyone then!

Today, our church sportsfest began. The first game was bowling and since I was the captain of my team (Okay, I elected myself as the team captain. Happy?), I resolved not to bowl and told my team mates that I will just cheer for them; give them moral support or whatever. However, two of my teammates are not playing. There should be at least five players for each team.

Having no other option, I was forced to rent bowling shoes and braced myself for the worst. I warned my team mates not to expect too much from me. They assured me that everything will be fine. I categorically tried to make a lot of excuses and told M, one of team mates to play twice in my behalf. She didn't want to and threatened that she will walk out. Fine. I decided to give it a shot. What have I got to lose? Err, not that they are going to impeach me or anything but then again...

After 16 years, I again held a bowling ball. When it was my turn to bowl, my legs were shaking. I am not going to let myself be embarassed again this time. I silently prayed for Divine Intervention. One of my team mates told me to just concentrate, aim the bowl in the center of the pins (which seemed to me are just awaiting to mock me.) I took a deep breath and thought: I can do this! I can do this!

Not wanting to lose my poise infront of my fellow church members, our pastor and the Ajossis who were merrily cheering us, I bravely made my first throw. I threw the ball with all my might, very consciously trying not to fall down and slide. Yay! The first throw was a spare. Beginners luck everyone screamed. It wasn't that bad, I decided.

I played pathetically until the tenth round and surprisingly made it to the six top scorers who will compete for the finals this coming Sunday. Wow! There are worse players in the church! Ha! Allelujah!

I am pretty sure Paeng Nepomuceno, who was an outstanding alumni of Adamson University where I graduated, will be sooo proud of me.

I so luuuvvvvvvvvvvv bowling!!!
